Summary: High Resistance Grounding (HRG) is relatively simple and easy to apply in radial distribution systems at Low Voltage and at high voltage up to 5 kV. When high resistance grounding is applied, a Neutral
Grounding Resistor (NGR) is used at the supply transformer with an alarm system to detect and indicate
the ground fault has been in use for many years and is widely applied. In high voltage systems 15 kV to
36 kV the practice has been to use low resistance grounding. The use of resistance grounding is safe
and more reliable. This presentation will explore the technical and application sides of this grounding
method; high, low and hybrid grounding. The focus of this presentation is ground fault and arc flash
mitigation through the use of high resistance grounding.

Bio: Terry Yeung Terry Yeung is a Sector Development Manager at I-Gard Corporation. He partners with the Sales and Engineering leadership teams to improve and accelerate sales processes. Terry earned a BS in
Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and continues to raise awareness
about the critical needs of having a safer and more reliable electrical distribution system. He effectively
communicates with consulting engineers and end users, educating on the requirements to maintain,
update or implement safe electrical distribution systems helping companies save lives, profits and
equipment.
