Summary:
The lecture will be based on the Concurrent Product Development improvement journey in Rolls-Royce Future Programmes. The messages are generic but probably most useful for high technology industries such as Aerospace, High Value Manufacturing and Defense.

Rolls-Royce formed cross-functional teams to deploy Concurrent Product Development (CPD) improvement at three of its civil aerospace locations: Indianapolis, Berlin, and in Future Programmes at its Derby headquarters in the UK. These teams are implementing pillars of CPD practice that have a proven track record for driving not only time compression and cost reduction, but also innovation.

During the first 3 years of the improvement, Derby made significant gains toward best-in-class practices and has recently accelerated change by incorporating these practices into the business plan deployment. The global teams are being transformed into a creative, more effective work organisation that will enable Rolls-Royce to remain a global leader in aerospace.
