A vision of the reliability analysis in identifying and using biochemical (predictive and diagnostic), biomechanical, sensor information and imaging data for patient care – including molecular pathology, laboratory diagnostics (clinical chemistry – DNA) and medical diagnostic imaging? 1. Implementation/Integration of Electronic Health Records and personalized Health Records 2. Standards harmonization, conformance testing, certification 3. Detailed mathematical modeling and computational analysis.

Talk objectives:

After the talk for Reliability of Medical Devices, the participants will:
• Know the most important parameters for evaluating the Medical Device System Reliability
• Know the way to predict the MTBF in different stages of the project lifecycle (not constant failure rate)
• Know how to improve the system reliability by addressing the high failure rate parts and their stress parameters
• Can perform electromechanical testing to verify suggested changes to the system.

The following subjects are among others addressed in the tutorial:
MTBF Prediction Guidelines
FMEA Studies to find critical parts in the system
Accelerated Life Testing to predict product return rate
Cost analysis vs. warrantee period vs. failure rate
Performance Measurements and benchmarking
