Summary:
This talk will explore the historical trends and new opportunities for electronics engineers in the Aerospace Industry. The Industry has gone through boom and bust cycles connected to government funding and shifting national priorities. Most recently, the singing of Space Policy Directive 1 on December 11, 2017, and the successful emergence of US commercial space flights on May 30, 2020, has renewed interest in space exploration in the US. Based on proceedings from the International Astronautical Congress, space exploration is of global interest for a number of government agencies and private companies. This increase in international interest is creating widespread opportunities for young professions with electronic engineering skills.
